These tags are special HTML tags used to carry information read by the browsers. The following explains how the META tags help the Search Engine to index your page.

The DESCRIPTION tag should be placed right below the TITLE tag and limit to 250 characters (including spaces). Its ok to duplicate the keyword once but do not over do it. Do not spend too much time on this tag, write the description in mind and move on.

Placement and details of KEYWORDS meta tag
Although its significance has decreased as compared to the past, what harm will it do us by spending a few minutes including some keywords into the page? These keywords will help the Search Engine sometimes in deciding the page relevance. The characters appear in this tag should be limited to 10 to 12 words. This tag can be placed immediately after the DESCRIPTION tag as discussed above.
